ShopSavvy
ShopSavvy is a unique shopping and price comparison application for the HTC Hero and Android. It lets you focus your Hero camera on any barcode and pulls up the best prices and available stocks in your current location and online. You can simply point your camera at a barcode, follow the instructions and you’ll have a comprehensive product and price list right in your hand. The app pulls in data from thousands of retailers, so there’s little chance that you’ll find a product missing from its catalog. It even has a failure mode – if the barcode is smudged or otherwise unreadable, you can just search the database by title.
ShopSavvy lets you configure alerts that will notify you when a product you want drops below a certain price level. Like with Amazon, you can create wishlists and otherwise categorize your products and shopping needs. You can also see user reviews for products written by other ShopSavvy users like you. There’s also the ability to pull up older scanned items, so you can even use it as an inventory app if you please. This is a fantastic use of the HTC Hero’s excellent camera, and this free app will make shopping much more fun.
